ProTection - loves the tough challenge

ProTection technology gives the tires the ideal combination of smoothness, grip and puncture resistance. This is made possible by an additional protective layer that surrounds the tire and makes it more resistant to damage in every way. Despite the additional layer, the tire has excellent damping properties while maintaining traction on the most demanding trails. Black Chili provides the necessary smoothness and grip. Another advantage of the German ProTection technology is the preparation for the Revolution Tubeless Ready technology, which enables the tire to be mounted quickly. Apex technology, which has been used in car tires for many years, effectively stabilizes the tire when cornering. This technology can also be useful in large bicycle tires: Apex is a rubber profile that is inserted between the carcass layers on the tire bead. It stiffens the sidewalls of the tire and thus minimizes the sliding of the tire against the rim under high lateral loads. In addition, the stiffened sidewalls reduce the risk of punctures and prevent the tire from falling off the rim. These properties make the Apex ideal for our downhill and freeride tires. The operating pressure can be further reduced in favor of grip without affecting the tire's properties when cornering and without increasing the risk of punctures.
