The gentle assistance of e-bikes puts a smile on your face every day, but it also increases the weight of your bike. Climbing hills is significantly more fun – but going downhill, the added mass and higher speeds present new challenges for both rider and equipment. To better meet the specific demands of e-bikes, Magura offers components specifically optimized for this purpose.
With the MDR-P, MAGURA introduces a brake disc for performance-oriented riders and demanding applications – from downhill and e-bikes to heavy cargo bikes. The two-piece disc saves weight compared to the MDR-C and is now available in diameters up to 220 mm. A special feature of the two-piece disc is the patented interlocking of the outer and inner rings (Dovetail Interlink Technology). This interlocking provides additional support on the inner ring when the outer ring expands. Unlike floating discs, this allows torque to be transmitted across the entire surface instead of just through the rivets. The result is increased brake disc stiffness and particularly direct heat dissipation under continuous load. Thanks to this new technology, the MDR-P is the most powerful brake disc in the Magura portfolio, yet it still offers low weight and reduced vibration, making it perfect for e-bike and gravity riding.
