Named after the hunting spear of the Zulu people from Greg's native South Africa, the Assegai burrows into any terrain, designed from a blend of the best Maxxis tread patterns. Greg took the advantages of the Minion DHF and DHR for fast rolling on hardpack, and for good grip in slippery corners, wet roots, and rocks. He took the side knobs from the High Roller plus a small center knob for ultimate lateral grip, and last but not least, the knob height of the Shorty to dig into softer soils. The hunting weapon is complete!

• Foldable bead core: Rings made of Kevlar or another aramid fiber hold the tires securely on the rim. The advantages are lower weight and easier transport due to a small pack size.

Tubeless Ready (TR): Tubeless tires have many advantages: You can ride with lower air pressure. This results in better traction and reduced rolling resistance. And where there's no tube, the risk of punctures is also reduced.

Maxxis TR tires are better prepared for mounting with sealant than other "tubeless ready" tires. The bead, like a true UST tubeless tire, is completely coated with a layer of rubber.

This means that tubeless mounting is successful on all rims with standard dimensions, even on the first inflation and with little fluid.

E-bike: All Maxxis tires can be used on pedelecs / e-bikes with assistance up to 25 km/h.
