Many derailleur chains have a "Master Link" chain lock (also called a "Quick Link" or "Power Link"), which allows the chain to be opened and closed without tools. Dirt, corrosion and wear can make this difficult over time. With the MLP-1.2, Master Links can be opened and closed quickly and easily at any time. Simply insert the tool into the chain lock and open the lock by closing the pliers or close it again by opening the pliers.
