With up to 402 aluminum spikes, it can grip any icy surface. The spike body around the tungsten carbide claws is made of aluminum. This saves a lot of weight and the MTB remains agile.

What should you know about studded tires?

Can you drive with spikes on normal roads? No problem at all. However, if there is rarely snow and the road is mostly clear, the noise from the tires will soon bother you.

And you don't slip? No. The spikes also grip very well into normal asphalt roads. Even fast curves are no problem.

Aren't spikes banned? Spikes are not a problem for bicycle tires. Spikes are only banned for motor vehicles in some countries because they damage the road. Fast e-bikes, however, are considered motor vehicles.

Do you have to break in the tires? To ensure that the spikes hold permanently, the tires should be broken in for about 40 km on asphalt. Avoid heavy acceleration and braking.

How long do the spikes last? All Schwalbe spikes have a core made of extremely wear-resistant hard metal (tungsten carbide). This means you can ride several thousand kilometers. It is normal for the corners to become rounded and the spikes to become pressed in a little deeper. Individual spikes have gone missing. Can I replace them? Yes, we offer a set of replacement spikes including tools.

When do tires reach their limits? In deep snow, even studded tires are no help.

I rarely have snow where I am. How can I use studded tires effectively? It's best if you can mount the tires on a second bike. In the morning, you can choose the right bike depending on the weather. On icy roads, when even the cars are driving very carefully, it's a great feeling to have full control on studded tires.
