• Aerodynamics were at the forefront of the Tarmac's development, as with all our road bikes, but weight is always the co-pilot on this journey to the optimal road bike. Historically, aero bikes have always come with weight compromises - reducing drag meant adding material in key places. With the Tarmac SL7, we had one goal in mind: keep the weight at or below the UCI weight limit without compromising on aerodynamics. Using the FreeFoil Shape Library, isotopic finite element analysis (FEA) and a dash of engineering from the best engineers in the business, we've achieved just that. The FACT 9r carbon frame weighs just 1010g, without compromising on aero, stiffness or ride quality.
• In our quest to create the perfect road bike, we've embraced our Rider First Engineered™ philosophy. The Tarmac SL7 was designed to be the most balanced and best-handling Tarmac, regardless of frame size. With a host of top athletes from our three World Tour teams - SD Worx, Soudal Quick-Step and Bora-hansgrohe - we've made changes to the Tarmac based on their experiences from thousands of miles of riding. We've balanced the ride quality between the front and rear wheels so that even the longest days in the saddle are still comfortable. • Building on the knowledge gained from developing the Venge, the Tarmac SL7 uses simple integrations to deliver a clean and, most importantly, fast cockpit. We've improved cable routing for every component configuration - mechanical shifters, traditional stems, round bars, etc. - while maintaining aerodynamic properties. These same features also make servicing the Tarmac SL7 and traveling from race to race easier.
