It wasn't easy for Troy Lee Designs to improve on the outstanding design and function of the D3 helmet. But they did it. Using a shell construction and aerospace-grade materials, they managed to bring the D4 down to 1050 grams without compromising on durability.

To provide an extra level of safety in the event of a fall, the MIPS-C2 protection system has been integrated. Through a front air intake system, the D4 Comp directs cooling air that flows through the center and a side mesh to cool your head while you ride. X-static® and XT2® antimicrobial and odor-inhibiting pads ensure that the inside of the helmet always remains comfortable.

Outer shell: 49% carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), 47% glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP), 4% aramid (Kevlar®)
Inner shell: 100% expanded polystyrene (EPS)
Lining: 100% Polyester (Headliner) // 75% Polyurethane, 25% Polyester (Cheekpads)
visor: 100% polypropylene
Screws: 100% polypropylene
Double D-ring closure: 100% titanium
